This is what Conscious Discipline teaches our kids. I have 2 kids; my 6 yr old went to Ivy Hill from the time she was 2 (when we moved to town), and my 5 yr old started at age 1. Yesterday I got into a car accident with both kids in the car. We are all okay, thank goodness, including the other driver. We were waiting and waiting for the police to show up, just sitting in the back of the minivan. About 10 minutes after the accident, Henry was crying again so I leaned over to hug him and let out a big sigh. Sarah asked, "what?" I answered, "Oh, I'm just..." and she said, "Overwhelmed?" She reached up to hug me and said, "I know that was really scary for you, having a car accident with kids in the car. That must have been really upsetting for you."

That kind of empathy is pretty incredible in a kid that age. I firmly believe that Ivy Hill's commitment to Conscious Discipline is the primary reason my kids can see things from other people's points of view and express their emotions so well. My son is in his last 2 weeks at Ivy Hill, and we are going to miss it immensely. I cannot say enough good things about the teachers, the curriculum, and the community. Luckily he is moving on to SAST, where they also use Conscious Discipline, with his sister. But nothing will replace Ivy Hill. Thank you for so many wonderful years!

Ivy Hill Academy will be closed for inclement weather on Thursday 11/10. We are closed in observance of Veterans Day 11/11 and will see everyone back Monday 11/14.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Tallahassee and Leon County.

Leon County Schools will be closed Thursday, November 10, 2022.

All after school activities will be rescheduled.
