FAMU Extension was honored to attend the Apalachicola Emancipation Day celebration, this past weekend, commemorating freedom, heritage, and the strength of our community.

This meaningful event brought together families, leaders, and organizations to celebrate history, culture, and the continued impact of unity and education. We are proud to support and engage with communities across Florida through outreach, education, and service.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration memorable. Together, we continue to honor the past while empowering future generations.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. 🇺🇸

From the faculty and staff of the Florida A&M University Cooperative Extension Program, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes and their families for their courage, dedication, and service.

As we gather with loved ones this Memorial Day, may we pause to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave so much.

❤️🤍💙

Volunteers recently joined forces at the Frenchtown Urban Farm and Compost Community to support gardening, composting, and environmental stewardship efforts through a partnership with the Southeastern African American Farmers Organic Network (SAAFON) and. Volunteers assisted with building a compost sifting device, clearing garden rows, removing weeds, and maintaining the garden to help create a healthier growing environment for the community.

The project also highlighted the power of community involvement and intergenerational learning, as volunteers of all ages worked side by side to promote sustainable gardening practices and healthy food systems. Through hands-on experiences like these, FAMU Extension continues to strengthen communities while encouraging environmental awareness and community pride.
