The awards gala, hosted by the FAMU National Alumni Association, took place on Saturday, May 25th, 2018 in Orlando, Florida. Thomas, now Director of Public Relations at Howard University, was a 2001 graduate of the FAMU SJGC PR program. “I think it’s important to do work that you’re passionate about so that it never feels like a job, and the work that I do for our HBCUs does exactly that for me.” said Thomas. When asked, how did the SJGC help her regarding her career in PR, she went on to say “The SJGC prepared me with all of the tools I needed to allow me to be successful in the marketplace. When it was time for me to leave the nest and join the workforce, I was confident in my ability to do the task.”
