✨ Student Spotlight: KC Alexander Sterling (Age 9) ✨
KC absolutely loves playing the piano and his natural musical ear makes him a joy to teach! Today, we get to hear his parents’ perspective on his musical journey at MLE. 💙
Q: What made you decide to enroll KC in music lessons at MLE?
Dad: His mother found you guys, what a great find! I love the progress he’s made. His ear is incredible. I’m grateful she chose your school.
Q: How do you manage practice at home, and do you have any advice for new parents?
Dad: After school he has three tasks: chores, reading, piano. What amazes me is that in his free time, he chooses music, learning new songs and chords all by ear.
My advice: loosen the reins and just “let them” sometimes. They’re children, but they’re also people. Fun is subjective. Embrace their fun with balance.
Q: What challenges have you faced during his musical journey, and what helps you stay committed?
Dad: Honestly, not many. He takes to music like a fish to water. The only challenge is keeping up with his pace! First piano, then drums, then trumpet and trombone at the same time.
Staying committed is easy. We like what he likes! Listening to him teach himself an instrument is indescribable.
Q: What has your experience been like with MLE?
Dad: Very pleasant, warm, and welcoming.
Q: What advice would you give to parents whose children are just starting lessons?
Dad: Get involved. Learn and practice too. Music is a language we should all learn.
Q: What has felt most rewarding to watch?
Dad: His ear. We can hear it, he can find notes almost instantly. We’re glad he has these disciplines. He’s becoming a fine young man.
👏 Huge congratulations to KC for his incredible musical growth, and thank you to his parents for sharing such a thoughtful reflection on their journey with Music Lessons Express! 🎹💙
