This student is leading the phonics review this morning. During instruction we take the time to build leaders within the classrooms, providing students with an opportunity to help with the facilitation of the learning process. They are the future.

This past weekend our dear teacher,  Mr. Nicholas Cutter was laid to rest. As a way to show our condolences, the students of Mr. Cutter class took time reflect on how amazing of a teacher he actually was. Throughout the year his lessons extended outside of the classroom. Guiding each student in this own special way. Mr. Cutter will forever be missed in our hearts.

We would like to give a special thanks to @BrownsvillePrepPTO and Friends  for supporting us during this difficult time. From orchestrating the balloon release, to providing a picture framed plaque to the school. All of the amazing love that our parents have showered us with has truly reminded us all, that we are all in this together. One big BPI Family. BPI Strong.

It’s brings us deep sorrow to have to express this message to our Brownsville Community.

On Saturday evening we lost one of our amazing teachers to a tragedy.

Mr. Nicholas Ramone Cutter was a beacon of light for our school. His presence radiated through the halls and within the classrooms throughout BPI. As a FAMU alumni, an accomplished clarinetist, and an avid poet, Mr. Cutter brought an artistic flare to our community. His joyful demeanor rained throughout the school, adding a vibrancy of positive rays to shower each room he entered. He brought jubilation to his colleagues and each and every student that he interacted with.

As a teacher, Mr. Cutter went over and beyond his required roles and responsibilities. He not only took the time to aide the students in improving academically, but he also understood the importance of helping the students to learn strategies to implement in-order to improve their socioemotional well-being. He got to know the students and parents on a personal level, which helped to establish a community of learners. The students not only viewed Mr. Cutter as a stellar teacher, but saw him exactly for what he was, a soul that was meant to positively impact and change the lives of everyone that he encountered.

May the light of Mr. Nicholas Ramone Cutter continue to shine just as bright as is shines throughout our BPI community.

We would like to take this moment to highlight our amazing parents. During our past monthly PTO meeting we had well over 75% of parents in attendance. Parent involvement has been a key contributor to our success over the years. Our parents continue to support us as we support their children’s growth and development and it shows through the success of their children. Thank you to all of our amazing BPI parents!!

“Brownsville Preparatory Institute delivers toy drive haul to Riley Elementary”

Thank you @abc27news for taking the time out to cover our story.

“Because of community donations, Brownsville was able to provide almost $6,000 dollars worth of toys for Riley students.

Principal Rita Brown says it's all part of paying it forward.

"Some of our children will wind up coming to Riley Elementary," Brown said. "It is important for us as a community, because we only go to the second grade, to make sure that we are preparing these children for tomorrow. And with that said, giving to other children in the community, it's also a lesson for our children. The lesson is: it's better to give than to receive."

There are more than 500 students at Riley Elementary and each of them will be able to receive a gift.

Gifts will go home with those kids on Dec. 14 and 16.”

Spelling Practice Mondays!
Spelling instruction improves reading ability, as it builds a learner's knowledge of the alphabetic system as it is used in reading. These are the steps to early reading.
