The Leon County Reading Council is proud to announce the 16th Annual Narrative Writing Contest! The competition is open to students in grades K through 12 and prizes will be awarded! All schools in the Big Bend area are welcome to participate. All contest participants and finalists will be honored at a reception later in the spring. Congratulations to LCRC members and FAMU College of Education students Tiyana Herring and Chelsea Murphy on their very first conference presentation at the 2017 Florida Reading Association Conference entitled "One Crazy Summer in One Crazy Course: Leveraging Literature Circle Discussions to Inspire Social Justice for the 21st Century Learner." FAMU COE reading professor Cheron Hunter Davis was awarded the 2017 Marguerite Cogorno Radencich Award for Florida's Outstanding Teacher Educator in Reading. LCRC is proud of these phenomenal educators!

My DAR Chapter sponsors the DAR's annual Christopher Columbus Essay Contest each year. The deadline is coming up on January 22.
