The FSU Center for Sport, Health, and Equitable Development (SHED) is a dynamic center for action-oriented collaborative research and community engagement in the areas sport, health, and equitable development. Vision Statement
The Center for Sport, Health, and Equitable Development strives to mobilize sport and physical activity toward the development of healthy communities through collaborative engagement focusing on equitable social and organizational progress.
Operating as usual
This past weekend, FSU Sport Management Graduate and Undergraduate Students hosted a basketball tournament at a local resource center serving individuals experiencing homelessness. The students planned and executed the tournament learning lesson in event operations, marketing, finance, volunteer management, diversity and inclusion in sport. The event was made possible by a grant from FSU's Office of Undergraduate Studies.

The SHED is planning to expand its relationship with the Renaissance Community Center over the coming months. More specifically, we will be conducting research on the effects of relocation to the new Emergency Services Center on W. Pensacola St. Working with RCC clients, we are also looking to create new transportation options to and from the new Emergency Services Center. Contact Dr. Newman if you are interested in joining the project!
