Mr. Boutwell's 7th and 8th grade ELA students explored the library through a fun book tasting experience, sampling a variety of books and also discovering online platforms to help them find new and exciting reads. It was a great opportunity to explore different genres, discover new interests, and encourage a love of reading. Students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and seeing what all the school library has to offer.

Happy Labor Day from FSUS!

Today, we recognize and celebrate the dedication, hard work, and contributions of workers who help strengthen our families, schools, and communities.

At Florida State University Schools, we are especially grateful for the incredible faculty, staff, administrators, families, and community partners who give their time, talent, and energy every day to support our students.

Thank you for all you do to make a difference—Every Student, Every Day.

Wishing our FSUS family a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved Labor Day!

K–3 students are learning that germs are tiny and invisible, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn how they spread and how to help keep ourselves and others healthy! 🧼🫧
To bring the lesson to life, students created their own “invisible germs” painting crafts in Health & Character Ed! They had so much fun exploring the idea of something we can’t see while getting creative along the way. 💕🎨

Learning + creativity + a little bit of messy fun = a great day! 🦠✨

🎯 Cause & Effect Relay! 🎯

Mrs. Taylor's class took their learning off the page and into action! Students worked together in a fast-paced Cause & Effect Relay, reading scenarios, identifying what caused something to happen, and matching each cause to its effect.
The best part? Students had to think, discuss, defend their choices, and work as a team all while practicing an important reading skill! 📚🧠💬
We are so proud to see students using clues from the scenarios to explain their thinking and recognizing that events don’t just happen—they happen for a reason! 💕🏃🏽‍♀️✨

We are proud to share high school art teacher Allison Prater as a featured contributor to the FSU Publication HEAL (Humanism Evolving through Arts and Literature). She models the continuous learning cycle by not only teaching, but learning through and creating art! Her piece, "The Teacher as a Guest House," shows a series of 36 woven portraits that were cut and "pixelated" by hand, created using images sent in by different educators at my school over the course of a school day. It is a mixture of different teacher self-portraits that express their responses to their interactions that day and the emotions that come with teaching students through K-12, meant to symbolize the way teachers show up for our students no matter how we are feeling, creating safe spaces for them to learn and grow.

Students in Introduction to Education traveled through the history of teaching and learning and discovered how education has always been shaped by the beliefs, needs, and events of its time. Then, they became the policymakers! Students were given a scenario set in 2035 and used historical principles to create an education policy designed to meet the needs of future learners. But creating the policy was only the beginning. Students stepped into the roles of educational stakeholders and evaluated how each proposed policy could impact their role and the students they serve. 🚌🏫📚

Our Spanish learners are putting their skills into action! In this video, our students are practicing different ways to say HELLO in Spanish—from ¡Hola! to Cómo estás? and more!

It’s amazing to see them build confidence, have fun, and realize that speaking a new language can be easy, exciting, and FUN!

Mrs. Adank's 1st graders investigated how light helps us see. We turned off the classroom lights and peeked into mystery cereal boxes, but we couldn't see a thing! 🚫👀 Then came the best part: turning on mini flashlights to watch the light bounce off the hidden objects.
