Good afternoon everyone

Unfortunately, today I have sad news. Robert Colman passed away last night.

Robert was a mentor and a friend to all of us and he will be missed. He taught us in and out of the classroom. He would know what to say and how to help with anything you brought to him. He was a supporting force behind his students from the moment he met you and well beyond graduation.

He taught me a lot, everything from structures with the "loaf of bread" to how to lead people with kindness and grace. He was the creator and the driving force behind this program. I have always been honored that he wanted me to take the reins when he retired, and we strive every day to advance the program with his vision and values in mind.

A message from Dean Frazier to the College of Fine Arts Community in light of yesterday's tragic events.

Dear FSU College of Fine Arts Community,

Yesterday’s tragic and heartbreaking events have left us all feeling shaken and hurting. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed in yesterday’s attack, those who were injured, and everyone who has been impacted.

What is most important now is for us to come together, supporting each other, and our FSU community through this tragedy.

To our students, we are here to support you. Know that as artists, performers, creators, scholars and the emerging leaders of our cultural institutions, you are shaping a brighter future for our community, our country, and the world. With great sadness, we report that Dr. Nancy Smith Fichter, 94, passed on Friday.

It is with great joy that we remember Nancy and all that she brought to each of our lives, Florida State University, and all of the art and artists mentored and supported through the years.

Additional details on how Nancy's memory will be honored are forthcoming. In the mean time, do it with love!

I have been recently informed that the FSU Faculty Senate has conferred the status of Professor Emeritus to me.
I am very proud of the national recognition and achievements of the MFA Technical Production Program, recognition earned through the hard work and dedication of hundreds of friends, colleagues, students, and others over the last two plus decades, achievement that cannot be attributed to any one person.
That said, I am deeply aware and appreciative of the honor this award indicates, and I humbly thank all involved.
