Leon-Wakulla Retired Educators Association

Leon-Wakulla Retired Educators Association Leon Wakulla Retired Educators Association LWREA is a Local Professional Organization and is open to Educators from any state in the Union.

As professionals, we work together to develop individual interests, volunteer in the community and provide emotional and educational support for our members. We are a part of the Florida REA, the only organized group in Florida that looks after your Retirement fund by monitoring quarterly meetings where investment activities and their results are reported. FREA also has active lobbying each year to protect the interests of retirees in the Florida Retirement System. LWREA meets the first Tuesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. for a General Meeting at the Temple Israel on Mahan Drive in Tallahassee.

"Jaedun, would you like to come up and fly it?" — Dana R.

TRUEWIND REGIONAL AIRLINES — Flight 214 sat motionless at the gate for nine minutes Tuesday while Captain Ms. Renley, a sixth grade teacher for eleven years before entering aviation, addressed passenger Jaedun, 34, who was standing during taxi, rifling through a stranger's overhead bin, and pressing his call button "to see what it did." Her opening announcement, that she could sit on that tarmac all day because she gets paid either way, had already silenced rows 2 through 31.

Jaedun declined the invitation to fly the aircraft and returned to his seat, at which point Ms. Renley thanked the passengers who were showing her they were ready. A man in 22B who laughed was informed the plane would now also be waiting on him.

The flight landed 11 minutes early after Ms. Renley clarified that beverage service depended entirely on the choices this cabin made. As of press time, Jaedun had been reseated in 1A where she can see him, and his emergency contact had been called, reached, and briefed.

The 2026 "WooHoo Breakfast" for retired educators from Leon and Wakulla counties was held at the Thomasville Road Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on August 12, 2026. On the first day of school we celebrated with a WooHoo!! and a lovely breakfast with our former colleagues. Happy to be retired but still deeply care for those in the trenches on this special day. Well wishes to all educators for a successful school year.
