Everyone felt the excitement at the annual Trailblazer Students vs Teachers Hockey Cup. After tying in the first half, the teachers pulled ahead to win 5 to 3. Congratulations, Trailblazers, for a strong effort and great sportsmanship.
Our 3rd graders performed Christmas Karaoke for their families this morning, and their singing is was right on point to wish our entire DeSoto Trail family a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! More pictures and video coming soon.

2022-"The Anatomy of a Joke"-Connor Bowen This speech won first place at our school-wide competition. Connor will represent DeSoto Trail at the district competition.
This morning, we hosted our annual Florida 4-H Public Speaking Contest at DTES. Congratulations to all the speech presenters for a job well done. Videos of the speeches will be uploaded to our YouTube channel later today.

We know you’ll represent DTES well, Connor, at the district level contest! A special thank you to our judges, teachers, and other faculty members for preparing our students for this event. Public speaking can be scary for some, but it’s an important skill for our Trailblazers to have on their journey to success.

Congrats to our December Volunteer of the Month, Angel Chiu! Angel is regularly spotted around campus volunteering in the media center, at Popcorn Wednesdays, and behind the scenes at musical productions. Last month, she spent many hours photographing the 2nd and 4th grade plays and assisting students with their Square One Art projects. We are grateful that Angel shares her creative abilities with our Trailblazers! As volunteer of the month, Angel will receive a reserved parking spot for the month, a vintage DTES t-shirt, and a small token of appreciation of our appreciation. Thank you, Angel!!!📘🍿📸🎨

WDTS this morning focused on our trailblazing artists! Congratulations to our five students who were selected for the Radiology and Associates Healthy Kids Calendar art contest. They will be honored at a reception tonight. We also recognized our art teacher, Ms. Taylor, who did a beautiful job restoring the statue of Hernando de Soto in our memory garden. Great work, Trailblazers!
