When Conqualla Scott was just 4 years old, she thought it was “normal” to shower in the restrooms of a community college and stand outside a store on the weekends asking people for money.

She’s come a long way since those early childhood days, battling homelessness under her grandmother’s care. She's now a standout FSU student, graduating this spring with 36 other Unconquered Scholars -- some of FSU's most resilient, hardworking students.

FSU iGEM 07/12/2023

Some of our undergraduate student researchers are involved in a project that asks them to use synthetic biology to address real-world problems. This year, they're exploring solutions to a rare disease called Trimethylaminuria, or TMAU, which causes some people to emit an unpleasant body odor.
