When the Hunting Ends, the Cast Begins!

The adventure doesn’t have to end when the hunt does! Try casting a line and seeing what you can reel in. It’s a quiet way to stay connected to nature and make the most of your day outdoors.

Have you ever scouted a hunting spot that turned out to be a great fishing hole too?

Two Traditions Collide!

For those who chase their next adventure over the field, through the forest, and across the water, hunting and fishing are two sides of the same adventure. When you’re not in the woods, grab a fishing rod and keep your connection to the outdoors going strong.

How do you spend your time outdoors when you’re not in the woods?

From Field to Stream!
Hunting and fishing call for the same patience, skill, and connection to nature. When you’re not in the field, find your focus on the water.

Which takes more patience, sitting in a stand or waiting for a fish to bite?

Are you ready for deer season?

Don’t forget: anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, who is at least 16 years old must pass a hunter safety course before purchasing a hunting license to hunt unsupervised. A hunter safety course will teach you the knowledge and skills to be a safe and responsible hunter.

Each summer, our Waterfowl Management Program bands mottled, wood, and whistling ducks. This collaborative effort with other state agencies and federal partners allows us to identify migratory routes and estimate harvest and survival rates, which help shape annual waterfowl hunting regulations. If you harvest any banded birds this season, remember to report them at ReportBand.gov.

Give Shooting Sports a Shot
Target shooters are some of the largest contributors to conservation, supporting projects that restore, conserve, manage, and enhance wildlife and their habitats.
How does this work? The Wildlife Restoration Program provides grant funds for these projects to fish and wildlife agencies like us, which come from manufacturer taxes on fi****ms, ammunition, and archery equipment.

Celebrate at one of our 11 ranges across the state or find other ranges at WheretoShoot.org!
