Sharon Davis School of Dance Established over four decades ago, Sharon Davis School of Dance is one of Tallahassee’s oldest and most esteemed dance studios.

SDSD provides professional training in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, special needs, Mommy & Me, musical theatre, and Irish stepdancing. We offer dance classes in ballet, pre-ballet (KinderKapers), pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, choreography, special needs, and mommy and me. When school is out for the summer, in addition to these classes we also have

our popular summer dance camps and workshops. Our highly qualified and caring faculty members teach dance classes for all ages from 18 months to adult and all skill levels from beginner to advanced. We have two spacious studios that feature real hardwood floors and mirrored walls and overlook our serene, wooded property, conveniently located on Timberlane Road near the intersection of I-10 and Thomasville Road on the northeast side of town. We take pride in the vast number of students in whom we have instilled the love of dance over the last 45 years in the Tallahassee community. We would love to have you join our dance family!

We just love our littles! Our Petite Dancers program is intentionally created for our smallest students and designed to grow right along with them, introducing music and movement in a fun and nurturing environment.

Our Petite Dancers classes include Pre-Ballet, KinderKapers, and a special edition of Ballet/Acro. There is still some availability in the following classes of the Petite Dancers program:

Monday 2:30-3:20 Ballet/Acro (ages 3-4)

Monday 5:30-6:20 KinderKapers (age 3)

Wednesday 3:30-4:20 KinderKapers (age 3)

Thursday 2:25-3:10 Pre-Ballet (ages 2-3)

Tuesday 7:45-8:35 (Elementary)
Wednesday 7:45-8:35 (Middle)
Saturday 10:00-10:50 (ages 8-10)

If your dancer is interested in a class that blends ballet, contemporary, and jazz technique, and uses the lyrics of songs to inspire movement, lyrical may be the perfect fit!

Good morning from NYC! 🍎🗽

Our dancer Violet appeared in Times Square this morning as part of the annual National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Times Square Video Presentation.

From the Down Syndrome Foundation of Tallahassee: “The one-hour video of 500+ photographs includes children, teens, and adults with Down syndrome from all 50 states and 12 countries. These collective images highlight individuals with Down syndrome in the most visible way – on two screens in the heart of Times Square.”

We are so proud of Violet and all she does to shine in the studio and beyond the barre!

25 years later, we are reflecting on the heartbreak of the day and the compassion of the days that followed.

We remember the lives lost and their grieving families and friends. We honor the heroes and helpers who ran toward the danger. We pray for those who were forever changed.

Our first week back is in full swing and the phone is a-ringing! We love hearing from you, especially when it means we get to meet your tiny dancer!

There has been a lot of interest in our combination ballet and tap offerings for dancers ages 4-7, so we thought we’d share some more information about it here.

This class style is one of our favorite ways to introduce ballet and tap technique with a focus on musicality and rhythm for young dancers. While several of our classes for this age group are already full for the year, there are still spots available in the following classes:

It is with the heaviest hearts that we learn of the passing of Dolly Parton. May her artistry, philanthropy, and immeasurable works of kindness serve as inspiration for generations to come.

Last year we dedicated our Repertory performance season to the Queen of Country Music. We took a trip to her hometown and spent time with the people and places she celebrated her entire life. We fell in love with her Smoky Mountain home, just like she knew we would.

We will forever be grateful for the impact she had. Her music taught us the power of our words. Her generosity moved us to do good for the world around us. Her faith reminded us that we are all truly loved. Her story inspired us, as it inspired everyone, to learn more, do more, dream more, and be more than we ever thought possible. 

Thank you, Dolly, for leaving us with a legacy of goodness, kindness, faith, and fellowship.

We will always love you.

Our Seasonal Dance Series began in the best possible way with guest artist Sherrod Reid! Participants received a fun and enriching introduction to Afro-Caribbean dance, embracing and celebrating new movements and making new memories.
