Yesterday, the Dining Services’ Capital Kravings team catered the LCSB Annual Retreat at the Howell Building. Thanks to our newly donated mobile demo cart, equipped with a range, convection oven, warmers, and prep area, Chef Amy prepared hot, ready-to-serve lunches on site. Board members and other LCS staff sampled three school-compliant vegetarian options, one of which was recently taste-tested with students at SAIL - The Spicy Jack Grilled Cheese, a vegetarian version of the Spicy Pork Grilled Cheese currently on high school menus across the district. Jackfruit takes the place of pulled pork in this recipe. Along with the Vegetarian Trio, we also served Buffalo Chicken Salad, Florida Strawberries with Citrus Yogurt Dip and Chef Amy’s Chewy Cookies. We look forward to more catering events and opportunities to use our demo cart at various schools. We’ve already visited Leon for a pop-up taste test of new breakfast options.
As a reminder, all schools and district offices will be closed on Monday, January 15th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Today is National Milk Day, commemorating the historic day milk was first delivered in glass bottles to homes in the United States, making this excellent source of nutrition accessible to families across the country. Thankfully, due to innovation and technology, high-quality milk and dairy products, like cheese and yogurt, have now become essential components of school meals. Sourced from Florida, the milk and yogurt we serve in our school cafes come from our M & B Products partner, proud Florida Milk farmers. We are delighted to offer fresh milk from Florida to our students daily, giving them access to the many essential nutrients it offers.
Due to anticipated severe weather in our area, all schools and district offices will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

All afterschool activities will be canceled for Tuesday as well. Afterschool activities for Monday, January 8 may proceed as scheduled.
The district will assess any possible storm damage tomorrow and evaluate any further changes to school operations once the weather moves through our area.
