⭐Fellows Spotlight: Frances Josma⭐

As a fourth-year FSU student majoring in FSU Public Health Program and Environment & Society with a minor in Philosophy in Science, Frances is passionate about connecting people with sustainability and the outdoors.

Through the Sustainability Fellows program, she hopes to empower fellow students, improve their research and communication skills, and develop creative solutions that help build a more sustainable campus for everyone.

Professor Neil Van Leeuwen was recently featured in Florida State University's May 2026 Faculty and Staff Briefs for presenting “Rational pressure on ideological imagining?” at the Université de Neuchâtel in Switzerland!

He also presented “Pretense is Representation” on the Acting as if Perspectives on Pretending workshop at the Université de Genève in Switzerland.

Nearly half of the 548 Florida State University Spring 2026 graduates who earned honors medallions are from the FSU College of Arts & Sciences! 🏅

Honors medallion awardees completed the University Honors Program or Honors in the Major Program. Those who completed both programs with a 3.9 cumulative GPA or higher received the designation of Outstanding Senior Scholar.

We're happy to announce Andrew Lichter will join the FSU Department of Philosophy as an assistant professor this fall!

Presently, Lichter is an assistant professor at Stanford University, and his work in moral and political philosophy explores themes such as rights, blame, respect, valuing, moral emotions and normative powers.

We're happy to announce Anna-Bella Sicilia will join the FSU Department of Philosophy as an assistant professor this fall!

Presently, Sicilia is a lecturer at Stanford University, and her work broadly examines the role of both beliefs and actions in building, maintaining and repairing interpersonal connections.
