Roots Caregiver & Child Class is designed for children who are walking through age 3 and their grown-up. Together, we’ll spend time outdoors exploring nature through forest school, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori-inspired experiences.

There’s a lot more happening when preschoolers are “just roughhousing” than meets the eye. 🌿🤸‍♀️

Climbing, rolling, pulling, pushing, hanging, and laughing together in our net may look like wild play—but it’s also a powerful way for children to learn about their bodies, boundaries, balance, coordination, and how to navigate social interactions.

✨ Rough-and-tumble play can help children:
• Build strength, balance, and body awareness
• Practice coordination and motor skills
• Learn to read social cues and body language
• Explore safe risk-taking and problem-solving
• Practice communicating boundaries: “Stop,” “Again,” “My turn!”
• Develop confidence and self-regulation
• Strengthen friendships through shared physical play

At Into The Woods Playschool, we believe children need opportunities to move their whole bodies, take appropriate risks, get a little messy, and engage in play that isn’t always quiet or perfectly controlled.

We don’t see this kind of play as something to stop simply because it’s loud or energetic. We see it as an opportunity to support children as they learn how to play safely, respect each other’s boundaries, and listen to their bodies. ❤️🌲

This is one of the many ways we support the whole child through play and connection in nature.

Meet our team for the 2026/2027 school year. We are welcoming two new teachers. This year we will have two preschool classes. With 1:6 ratios our school still remains a small tight knit community. We are a school family built using Conscious Discipline and hours of unstructured play in the woods. Our Adult Forest School Day was such a beautiful success 🌿✨

We spent the day foraging, slowing down for a peaceful watercolor class, and learning how to capture the magic of the outdoors through nature journaling. There’s something special about stepping outside, connecting with the earth, and creating alongside others.

It was a day full of laughter, learning, and fresh air—and our cups are so full 💛

We can’t wait to do it again!

🐢🦎🐊 Reptile at School!

The last two weeks our students had a wildly exciting visit from some amazing reptiles! We met turtles, a tortoise, lizards, and even an alligator. The children had the chance to hold, pet, and learn all about these incredible animals through hands-on exploration.

Moments like these spark curiosity, build confidence, and help children develop a love for nature and science. Watching their faces light up as they interacted with the animals was unforgettable!

Tomorrow we have an Open House tomorrow. If you have a 3-5 year old come and check us out. We do Conscious Discipline and a focus on nature. We are play based with long periods of uninterrupted play. Give your children a childhood full of muddy clothes and raising butterflies.
