Many of you may not know this, but the Executive Director of Hillel was over in Israel with a group of students when the Operation Rising Lion began. It has been quite a week for Brian and the students, but they are now working their way home. They will be part of the rescue missions being coordinated by Governor DeSantis and his team, which includes State Senator Jay Collins, the Department of Emergency Management and Grey Bull Rescue.
Here is the latest update from Hillel. Please keep praying for their safe return to Florida!
Holding on to hope and finding light in a dark time. โจ
So grateful for all of our Noles! โค๏ธ๐

We offer our heartfelt prayers for our friends and family in Israel during this difficult time. May peace and protection surround them, and may strength and resilience guide them through. We also pray for the safe return home of the FSU Hillel students and staff currently in Israel. Our thoughts are with them, and we stand in solidarity with our global Jewish community.

We are heartbroken and outraged by the horrific attack that took place in Boulder, Colorado, during a peaceful solidarity walk to raise awareness for Israeli hostages held in Gaza. The deliberate targeting of Jewish individualsโsome of whom are Holocaust survivorsโthrough the use of firebombs and a makeshift flamethrower is not only an act of terror, but a vile expression of Antisemitic hatred.
This is the second Antisemitic attack in recent weeks. We continue to mourn the brutal murder of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrimโan act of cold-blooded hatred that has shaken our community to its core. These tragedies are not isolated incidents; they are part of a disturbing rise in Antisemitic violence and rhetoric that must be confronted with moral clarity and collective resolve.
The hateful slogans reportedly shouted during both attacks make the intent unmistakable: this was an act of Antisemitic violence meant to instill fear and silence a community peacefully advocating for human rights. It cannot and will not be tolerated.
We stand in full support of the victims, their families, and the Jewish community in Boulder and around the world. We are grateful to those who acted swiftly to help the victims, and we call on federal and local authorities to treat these terrorist attacks with the urgency and seriousness they demand.
To our fellow Seminoles and the broader FSU community: now is the time to speak out, especially for those who have no voice, like the 58 remaining hostages. Jew hatred has no place in our societyโon campus, in our cities, or anywhere else. Silence in the face of hate is complicity.
May the victims have a swift and full recovery, and may the memories of those lost be a blessing.

I know we are all stunned by what happened on campus at our beloved Alma Mater yesterday. It's even more tragic because it's the second time we have experienced an active shooter on our campus. These things should never happen, let alone twice on the same campus.
What I will say is a big THANK YOU to the entire law enforcement community. FSUPD, TPD, LCSO, and FHP all responded immediately. FDLE and the FBI also quickly engaged to neutralize the situation. This is a tragedy, but it could have been much, much worse.
While we are still learning details. I want you to know that the FSU JAN did its best to check on as many of the Jewish students on campus through every outlet we could. I texted several students, used a GroupMe message group, and other means to make sure I could account for as many of the students on campus as possible.
For parents, alumni, and all students, we will all get through this together, but one thing is certain, the FSU spirit remains UNCONQUERED!
