Spyce Davis and her friends are hosting a Charity Ride with proceeds benefiting the students at Gretchen Everhart School. The ride is this Saturday, Oct. 7th. We want as many students and friends of Everhart to join us at the Harley Davidson location by 11:00 to cheer the riders as they finish their ride! Thanks for your support!

We had our annual Owl Run yesterday! Despite the heat, our students and the middle school cross country students who participated gave it their all. This wouldn't have been possible without the help of Howdy's Rent A Toilet, Custom Furniture Installations, Kona Ice of Tallahassee, GWTC, and Scott Hansen and Leon County Schools. Thank you all so very much! Until next year :)

We had a great time at the Owl Run and enjoyed welcoming all of the middle school girls and boys cross country teams! Very proud of our student that ran the entire middle school course with Coach Vicky!

It is so good to be back in school! It is good to spend time with friends and enjoy time in the sensory room!

A BIG Thank You to our Everhart Excellence Foundation (EEF) for treating the teachers and staff to breakfast and lunch this week as we get ready for students with the help of our Partners: Bagel Bagel, Chick-Fil-A, and Tropical Smoothie! We are looking forward to seeing some of our former students who will be performing this Saturday night at the Moon with Pyramid Players. It is always a great show! Can't wait to see our Stars! Go Owls!

We are in the process of getting our school ready in anticipation of our students returning and with that, we are trying to re-stock our school store, the Owl Mart. The items in the Owl Mart can be bought by students using their Owl Bucks which they receive for following the school rules: be safe, be respectful, be responsible. Students get to shop for what they want and work on skills such as making choices, waiting in line, and counting out money. The store is also run by our transition students who focus on vocational skills such as greeting, counting up the cost of items being bought, taking Owl Bucks and counting out any change, and bagging items that were bought.

Some different things that are sold are clothes (comfortable clothes like t-shirts and elastic shorts/pants), sensory toys, random toys (i.e., cars, people, animals, etc.), bags, hats, art supplies, collegiate gear, toys/games, movies, electronics, books, stuffed animals, and seasonal items. If donating, please do not bring anything fragile or breakable.

Any items to be donated can be dropped off at the front office between the hours of 8:00-5:00. We hope you can help us add to our shop. It is a great motivator for our students!

We are so proud of our Owlmazing Building Maintenance Supervisor, Louise Rhodes! She was recognized by the district for her excellence in her job as the BMS for Everhart. We are so proud of her! Thanks to Tod Stupski and Ryan Peck for helping us recognize Louise for her great work!

A BIG Thank you to our Elk Friends that provided ALL of the students and staff a hamburger lunch as a part of our Fun Days! They are such wonderful partners and friends of Everhart.

Last night was graduation for Everhart and it was an incredible time! We are so proud of our graduates and you could see that they were proud of themselves as they went across the stage. Many thanks to Mayor John Dailey, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Alan Cox, and Leon County School Board Member Marcus Nicolas, for coming out to support our students. And CONGRATULATIONS to our newest Gretchen Everhart grads!!

We had our annual prom last week! For the past few years, our students have not dressed to the nines but this year we brought fancy back! We couldn't have put this together without the help of the following individuals and organizations: Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for the doughnuts that were provided while our students got ready in the "men's den" and at "spa day," Bill Soleau for donating food, Rick Peckham for getting the food, drinks, and music organized, the Tallahassee Elks Lodge #937 for volunteering with music and food prep, UNF Dance Miracle reps (Riley Rowe and Gracie Pittinger) for coming to dance with the students, Mikalya D***s and Lana D***s for volunteering during Spa Day, and Rick Peckham and Denise who made the corsages and boutonnieres for our students to wear. Edited to also add THANK YOU to Joy Delaney for making the awesome volcano!

Thank you all for helping to make this special day even more special!

Everyone is looking forward to our Prom on Friday! We are getting fancy this year! Please make sure High School and Transition students are ready with their attire. Contact your teacher if you have questions. We are fortunate to have the Elks cater a lunch before we start dancing. Parents can come at 2:15 - 2:45. It will be FUN!

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Ragan and her grandmother Jane and her family for the generous expression of appreciation for all of our "Owlmazing" Staff! There were so many delicious treats with lots of variety and plenty for everyone! We are so lucky to have such wonderful Everhart families!

Really enjoyed watching our athletes compete in the Special Olympics MATP Competition. A BIG thank you to Coach Vicky and Coach Melba for organizing this great event. So wonderful to have families and fellow students and staff there to cheer each of the athletes to do their personal best!

Some of our secondary students are back in the pool for PE and loving every minute! Thank you to everyone who helped get it ready for swimming! Coach Vicky is so glad we will be able to swim and is looking forward to lots of swimming in June!

Thank you to Jose Vargo from Troop 118 for completing his Eagle Project at Everhart! Our staff and students will enjoy the new benches and the great landscaping he was able to provide us! Thank you also to John Vargo and Chris Williams for your work with Jose. Can't wait for Jose to be presented with his Eagle Scout award!

Enjoyed having our friends from Godby High School come over for some CLAY spring competition in Bocce and Co****le! Thank you Coach Melba, Jacobs, Caressa Nee and Vicky Droze for making this wonderful event happen for us all!

Joey was looking exceptionally sharp today for shirt and tie day!

Today was such a treat for us. Some of the members of the FSU Marching Chiefs came to play for our students and it was awesome as usual! Many thanks to David Plack for making sure this is an annual experience for our students! Also, many thanks to the members of the Marching Chiefs for taking the time out to come and play for us! And they always leave some time at the end for our students to interact with the instruments which is very exciting for them :)

What a special time we had celebrating Raina's 16th birthday! A BIG thank you to her parents and family that treated ALL of the students and staff to Kona Ice in celebration of her birthday! What a great way to celebrate!

So proud to recognize the wonderful volunteer work of Grace Ashoo who was honored as our Student Volunteer of the Year! We were honored to have her parents join us as well who have supported her volunteer work at the school. We so look forward to having her volunteer with us this summer!

Thank you to Leadership Tallahassee Class 40 for your recent visit to our school. We were able to share about the unique needs of our students and school and the accomplishments we see being made by our students each and everyday! We were able to share the challenges and joy we encounter every day as we help all students be the best they can be! At Everhart EVERYONE is EXCEPTIONAL including our Owlmazing Staff!

Our high school students had a great time performing at Sportsability! Thank you to staff: Alyssa Taylor, Cookie Humphrey-Bell, Stephanie Light, Sharon Davis and Courtney Collins for helping our students shine!

We REALLY enjoyed our annual visit from the Rough Riders! They brought every student beads and a bear and visited every classroom. Thank you for bringing so much joy to our students and staff while the group is in Tallahassee for the Springtime Tallahassee festivities. We will look forward to seeing your again next year!

Our students had a great time during CLAY/Special Olympics time on Friday visiting the fairgrounds as part of the Springtime Tallahassee Celebration! Thank you Melba Jacobs and staff for supporting our students!

Our secondary students really enjoyed the springtime Special Olympics/CLAY activities and trip today! Thank you Springtime Tallahassee, Rough Riders, Melba Jacobs and our staff: Caressa Nee, Vicky Droze, Stephanie Light. What a fun time!

We really enjoyed a visit from our School Superintendent Rocky Hanna! He got to watch students learning in Maria Botero's classroom, students communicating their needs through a cooking lesson with our Speech Therapists Cara Edenfield and Robin Cave, students learning through music with Alyssa Taylor and playing and working on ball skills with Vicky Droze and Walton Hall. So nice to have the support of our Superintendent and School Board!
