Bradford Woods has been providing therapeutic summer camps for 70 years, and we take pride in offering specialized programs for children with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and other special needs. We partner with organizations such as Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis to host adapted camp sessions tailored to the unique needs of each camper. Students will gain hands-on experience in a therapeutic environment, which will help develop valuable skills that can enhance a future career in music therapy, music education, or related areas.
Our summer camp program features a wide range of activities, including music therapy, high and low ropes courses, adaptive zipline, swimming, arts and crafts, nature programs, canoeing, fishing, pontoon boats, scuba diving, waterskiing, archery, and more. Staff work closely with campers to adapt activities, provide personal care, and implement individualized care plans. This experience offers music students and music therapists the opportunities to work with diverse populations, using music as a tool for communication, emotional expression, and social interaction in a therapeutic setting
Bradford Woods is deeply committed to inclusivity and accessibility, with all our facilities universally designed to meet the needs of each camper. Music Therapy Program Instructor Job Description: Design and implement programs with written activity plans in the area of Music. Programs should be developed around camper needs, interests and goals and would preferably be based around the theme of the camp session. The Music Therapy Program Instructor will also assist in the ex*****on of evening programs as assigned by the Logistics Coordinator and Evening Program Instructor, assist with running a station during Challenge Day, and teach Outdoor Living Skills during campouts. This position lives in the cabins for the duration of the summer and assists campers with whatever level of personal care deemed necessary. THE RIGHT CANDIDATES:
• Has a bachelor’s degree in music therapy or equivalent.
• Carries the music therapy credential, MT-BC.
• Two years’ experience as a music therapist is preferable but will consider entry-level for the right candidate.
• Is passionate about working in a variety of settings including as follows: development and rehabilitation settings; adult hospital setting, with children and
adults with special needs, as well as with older adults within a relationship-centered, patient-centered framework.
• Is a skilled clinical musician, strong in voice, guitar, piano, and drumming.
• Enjoys a variety of clientele and clinical settings.
• Wants to contribute to the field of music therapy.
• Has an interest in product and program development.
• Is a dependable, responsible team player.
• Is committed to advocating for our profession at the regional and national level.
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Clinical Music Therapy:
o Working with a variety of clients in multiple settings, including:
§ Neurodiverse and neurodivergent individuals of all ages
§ IEP-based school services
§ Rehabilitation groups
§ Bedside work in hospital/hospice settings
§ Older adults (memory care, assisted living, hospice settings)
o Facilitate both group and individual sessions.
o Document impact on a regular and timely basis.
o Music Wellness & Events: Conduct special events such as drum circles, memorial services, community events, presentations, etc.
2) Facilitate business growth through networking and customer service.
3) Time Commitment: Hours vary Monday – Saturday and may include occasional evenings.
4) Additional tasks may be assigned based on agency needs.
5) Attend and participate in event-related activities and meetings as requested.
6) Exercise good judgment and confidentiality in dealing with staff, clients, and the community.
