The Florida Center for Public Management

The Florida Center for Public Management The Florida Center for Public Management has become a global resource for improving management, leadership, and organizational effectiveness.

We are proud to be a part of the Askew School of Public Administration at the Florida State University. The Certified Public Manager (CPM) program is a nationally-recognized management development program for public managers and supervisors. Today, 34 states and the federal government participate in the National CPM Consortium, which accredits
programs and establishes the requirements for the Certified Public Manager designation. The CPM designation is a professional designation, not an academic one. Florida’s program is one of the oldest and most active in the country. Since the program began in 1979, approximately 8,000 managers have received their CPM designation, as well as their Certificate in Supervisory Management (CSM), an intermediate designation. The Florida Center for Public Management (FCPM) at The Florida State University administers and delivers the CPM program throughout the state. Many government agencies choose CPM as their primary method for training current and future leaders. We currently partner with over 100 state and city agencies, local municipalities and constitutional officers.

We’re excited to announce the opening of the Florida Center for Public Management (FCPM) Learning Center! 🎀🏛️

Located in the City Centre Building at 227 N Bronough St #4100, Tallahassee, FL, this new space expands our ability to serve public management professionals and strengthen learning opportunities across our community.

We recently celebrated with an official ribbon cutting ceremony on January 26 , welcoming faculty, staff, and guests for an evening of connection, remarks, and celebration (with delicious hors d’oeuvres!).

The ribbon cutting was facilitated by FCPM Director Linda Jimenez, with official remarks provided by Dean Timothy Chapin, Dean of the College of Social Sciences & Public Policy.

This new center marks an exciting step forward, allowing CPM to host more classes, expand our program offerings, and better support the leaders who serve Florida every day.

Level 8 Launches in Pinellas County – The CPM Grand Finale

Level 8, which began on August 12, is a three-day capstone experience that marks the culmination of the CPM journey, a moment for advanced learning, reflection, and celebration of professional growth.

The week began with breakfast catered by Marguerite’s Café, followed by interactive “Getting to Know You” activities designed to foster connection among participants. The day closed with “The Big Picture”, a session that framed the purpose and impact of this final stage.

Today includes concurrent speaker sessions, a luncheon co-hosted by the Florida Society of Certified Public Managers and FCPM, and Mike McDanield participant led discussion groups in the afternoon.
