This past week, as we celebrated Black History Month, we focused on the contributions of recent artists. For the first day of the month, we put the spotlight on Melissa Mitchell, a FAMU alumna and dope artist who has worked with too many professional brands to name!
When I reached out to her and told her that we were recognizing her during BHM and hoped that she could send ONE of her autographed books to award the winners of our school-based Chalk Walk contest -- she jumped at the opportunity! Melissa sent TWO autographed books, a pencil pouch, and a super dope backpack! Our students LOVED it!
