🎉 📣 Announcement 📣 🎉

SAIL High School has been rated a “B” by the Florida Department of Education for the 21-22 school year.

This “B” wasn’t just about maintaining, but about continuing to move forward in spite of the learning loss due to the pandemic.

Teachers- we are so proud of your hard work and dedication to our student body!

Students- you did it!!! ⭐️

Magical things happen when a group of teenagers belong. Today, we shared in a lovely ceremony hosted by caring teachers and teenagers with the biggest hearts, all for a teenager who is going through some hard things. She has met her graduation requirements, but won’t be able to be present for our graduation. Today, these teenagers loved her hard. They loved her well. They showed her hope. They showed empathy and celebrated her for the friend that she is, the special human being that we all love. They showed her that she truly belongs. Because we can feel belonging only if we have the courage to share our most authentic selves with people, and that’s what these teenagers do. This is SAIL. This is us. And in the words of Susanna Denham - “I Love Us”. We love you sweet friend and Congratulations on your graduation!👩🏻‍🎓

It was an amazing Mental Health Awareness celebration today at SAIL’s First Friday. We had the Dogtors Therapy Dogs, Words of Affirmation Card and Tin Craft, Ice Cream, and several community vendors including TMH, and MANY others. Special shout out to Tiffany, our super social worker for leading this very special event!

Happy Principal’s Day to SAIL’s very own superhero- Principal Matt Roberson!

The “Be Kind” Community Service Intensive partnered with several organizations today for their first day of Intensives! Leon County Humane Society partnered with students as students designed and created blankets for pups. Guest Speaker Elizabeth Bolfing joined us representing PACE Center for Girls, and students put together hygiene bags to donate to girls in need. Guest speaker Catherine Deininger taught about the Hang Tough Foundation, and students assembled Easter baskets for students with special needs. Misty Cash from Random Acts presented a seminar on how students can write their own grants to create a community service project. Students were engaged and inspired throughout Day 1!

It is INTENSIVE week at SAIL High School!! Five days each spring are reserved for unique, experiential learning activities called Intensives. Examples of Intensive activities that students have participated in the past are: backpacking in the North Carolina Mountains, Sailing in the Florida Keys, traveling to historic sites in the US, and volunteering in the community. Stay tuned for photos from this year! We have a lot of great things going on this week!

Our garden is now completely freshly tilled and ready for planting! Thanks to all of our team members for getting the job done- JaSun, Matt, Benny, Tony, Calvin, Rob, Sheri, Jessica!

Even our Assistant Principal of Curriculum can run a tiller! (In ballet flats and a cardigan! …But that’s how Jessica rolls!) We are all excitedly contributing to the building of our new garden on the east field near our newly built greenhouse!

Please congratulate our SAIL robotics team for taking 1st, 3rd, and 4th place out of 17 teams at the Tallahassee VEX robotics 2022 Turning Point Competition.

SAIL also won the sportsmanship award, which really matters. So proud of our team!!

Part of our celebration of Black History month at SAIL is a game of hidden in plain sight HBCU Pennants! Students collect these and present them for a prize! … Can you spot the Grambling Pennant?

Grambling State University (GSU, Grambling, or Grambling State) is a public historically black university in Grambling, Louisiana. The university is home of the Eddie G. Robinson Museum and is listed on the Louisiana African American Heritage Trail. The university is a member-school of the University of Louisiana System and Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

We had a wonderful kick off to our Black History Month Celebration here at SAIL High School! Students received cookies, hot cocoa and a story!
Did you know Famous Amos is from Tallahassee? 🍪 🖤

SAIL’s Best and Brightest work group led by our amazing counselor Ms. Quashier Flood! Jessica Chapman, APC is checking in on their progress. We do everything as a family at SAIL! ⛵️

SAIL is an amazing place with the best and most caring teachers! Love Art? Drama? Guitar? Music? Fiber Arts? Want to practice yoga daily? Or learn something fun like juggling? Interested in Robotics? Or Digital Design? We have all this and so much more. Our hands-on approach to learning in core subjects helps so many students of all levels and abilities excel and reach their fullest potential. Our smaller class sizes allow our teachers to give more individualized attention to each student. We offer many college and career opportunities including dual enrollment both on campus and off campus. There is something for everyone at SAIL, and we celebrate the individual in everything that we do. All students are loved by teachers, staff, and peers and given room to grow into their authentic selves. We are now accepting applications for fall enrollment in all grade levels... we would love to have you join our school family. ❤️

SAIL High School National Honor Society (NHS) students visited Canterfield of Tallahassee Assisted Living Facility. They celebrated the 2021 holiday season by giving the residents gifts, singing Christmas carols to them, playing games with them, and dancing with them. It was a magical time. ♥️

The Student Government Association hosted our Winter Dance this evening. The event was spectacular. We had an amazing turn out, a well behaved crowd, and NEARLY EVERYONE DANCED! Special thanks to PTSO for their support! 🕺🏻

Congratulations to Nancy and Emily for receiving a $500 classroom grant from Envision Credit Union! This grant will help fund their Be Kind intensive, providing opportunities for SAIL students to volunteer with local community organizations.

Picture retake day was canceled for tomorrow. It will be rescheduled for after the holidays.

Emily Bell – Teacher of the Year! Such a well-deserved recognition among our colleagues! We can’t thank you enough for all that you do for ALL of our students and staff here at SAIL. Your dedication, support, and time you spend with anyone who walks through the doors in the Media Center is what continues to make SAIL the school we are today.

Peejay – Student Choice Award & Glenn Howell Distinguished Educator of the Year Award! Peejay has been working with SAIL since 2010 and has always been a positive role model impacting all of SAIL’s students both inside and outside of his classroom. Thank you for connecting with our students on a personal level while maintaining high expectations of learning and involvement.

Tony Mills – School-Related Employee of the year! Tony is not only a graduate of SAIL, but he has been working here and supporting SAIL since 1993! Tony’s hard work and dedication to SAIL go beyond the daily call of duty. Thank you for your continued service, we are very fortunate to have you as part of the SAIL family!

Hello SAIL Community,
Our Agriculture Program has a new addition, a greenhouse! This is located on the east field, where we will also be establishing a space for more gardening. We are very excited for our students to have this expanded opportunity to learn more about Agriculture and sustainable gardening. The district maintenance department will be installing water and electrical lines, as well as constructing a ramp for access.
We will keep you updated!

Principal, SAIL High School

Doing our part.

Leon County Schools will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, August 17.

We will be excusing absences for individual circumstances caused by the storm. Please work with school administrators in those instances.

Please see the important announcement below about school closures 8/16/2021.

This morning when we woke up our region was in the clear from immediate impact of Tropical Storm Fred. However, as we all know, these things can change rapidly. Late this evening the National Weather Service extended the official Tropical Storm Warning to include Leon County. As a result we are closing all schools and district offices for tomorrow Monday, August 16th.

All afterschool activities for Monday have been cancelled as well.

We can't wait to see you!

New students join us on Friday, August 6th from 8 am to 10 am for orientation.
