This week the J.M. Program is excited to highlight current student, Andrew Rodriguez, Supervision Manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch! Andrew is in his last semester at FSU College of Law and will soon be a two-time FSU alum!

“Although a very long period of time passed after earning my AA degree, in the interim, I did manage to pass the FINRA Series 7, 63, 66, 9, and 10 Licenses. As helpful as having those licenses were to my ability to earn a living, I kept putting off earning a bachelor's degree while I pursued my career across the country, got married, bought a home, and started a family.

When the time was right, I enrolled at Florida State University, and through Distance Learning, I graduated in the Summer of 2022 with a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Social Science and a concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

As graduation approached, I thought about Graduate School and discovered that the College of Law at my soon-to-be Alma Mater offered a Juris Masters Degree in Financial Regulation and Compliance, also available via Distance Learning. Since this program was absolutely applicable to my career, it made sense to just keep rolling along, and after undergraduate graduation, I was accepted to the College of Law and the JM program and will be graduating in the Summer of 2024.

I'm most appreciative of the opportunity that FSU gave me to earn both a BS and now a JM, and I know I'll be able to apply everything I've learned to my current and future roles at work. The support I've received from everyone involved at FSU has been nothing short of outstanding, and I would highly recommend this program to all my friends and colleagues who may be interested in furthering their knowledge and expertise in the complex and dynamic fields of Financial Regulation and Compliance.”

Andrew, we appreciate you sharing your experience in the Juris Master Program. Your input is crucial to the success of our program and community. The College of Law and J.M. Community wish you all the best in your career and future endeavors and we can’t wait to celebrate with you for your upcoming summer graduation!

J.M. Alum, Kristen Roberts, Vice President of Support Services at SIMEDHealth, is shining bright in our weekly alumni spotlight today! ✨ We are excited to highlight Kristen's academic journey, professional developments, and the added value the J.M. degree has brought to her career!

“After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in English Literature I spent the next few years establishing my career before returning to UF to earn my MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. As the VP of Support Services for a large healthcare organization I share my focus on employment issues, healthcare regulatory (compliance), and general healthcare law.

A few years ago, I decided to return to school and began exploring different programs but provided any inspiration. I just happened to see a post about the J.M. program and after exploring what it had to offer, realized it was tailor-made for me. This program offered me the opportunity to merge my lifetime experience with formal education in Employment Law and HR Risk Management as well as Healthcare Regulatory issues. It gave me a better understanding of the law which I've applied with the various legal professionals I work with daily.

The professors, staff, and Dean Utset are so invested in the success of their students. I felt completely supported by every member of the team. I encourage anyone who wants to explore the law or just further their education in their chosen field to consider this program.”

Kristen, we appreciate you for sharing your experiences and valuable insights about the J.M. Program. Your contributions play a vital role in the success of our program and community. The College of Law and J.M. Community wishes you the best in your career and future endeavors!
