It is the teachers’ first day of school 2026, and we received an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Donations pictured were given by Elaine Ponder and the Acts 1:8 fund of Ridgeview Baptist Church. Ridgeview finds numerous ways to support ALA throughout the school year, and we appreciate everything they do for us. Thank you for all of these much needed supplies.

Incoming Senior at Ascension Leadership Academy Charity Brown recently secured a position at the Piggly Wiggly Talladega #242 and checked out President Marshall this evening in her lane. We are so very proud of Charity as she continues to succeed as a leader at every turn! What a beautiful soul and smile!

Our Mid-Cycle Cognia Accreditation report has been submitted and approved with no further actions required. ALA remains fully Cognia Accredited through June 2030.

Our ALA high school faculty will have a transition this fall. Our favorite high school language arts instructor decided it is time for travel and retired again at the end of May. We will truly miss our tiniest faculty member Mrs. Donna Shivers, but we certainly understand her desire to have time for traveling and visiting places she enjoys seeing. With Mrs. Donna’s departure, we were very fortunate to have Mrs. Debra Williams substitute for us during the year. We observed Mrs. Williams in every classroom setting and she was amazing. In addition, every educator who knows Mrs. Williams has said we are fortunate to have her. We are sad to see Mrs. Shivers retire, but we feel so blessed to have Mrs. Williams join our family. We believe she will be a perfect addition to our educational program. Happy travels Mrs. Shivers and welcome aboard Mrs. Debra Williams.

How awesome! Our educator duo! Mr. Ponder and his daughter Emily both earning Teacher of the Year Awards at their respective schools. It just does not get better than this. Mr. Ponder has established a distinctive career teaching mathematics in Talladega and Georgia. His daughter Emily is also a brilliant, creative, enthusiastic educator in South Carolina. So glad to see them earn awards for what they do so well. Congratulations, Charles and Emily. Please continue making a difference in the lives of our young people. Our future depends on educators like you.

Commencement 2026 is in the books. It was a great year with all seniors receiving scholarships and setting a scholarship record totaling more than $240,000 with more scholarships given during the graduation program and at least two scholarships still to be announced. Congratulations to each graduate-you made us proud! Keep it up through your college days.
