One of America's Most Historic Black High Schools, Fairmont Heights High School located in the Historic Black Greater Fairmount Heights Community of Chapel Oaks MD opened in 1950,as a High School for Negroe Students located in tabacco rich plantation county of Prince Georges County Md . A new school provided with old hand me down books and supplies, but rich with highskilled Administrators, Teache
rs and Coaches, this black high school over came segragation and it's ill effects, and produced some of the successful graduates of historic black high schools in America. Former Alumni and Ex Students included Linda Greene of the Grammy Music Award Wiining Singing Duet, Peaches and Herb, University of Maryland Basketball Team Captain Chris McCrea, Vice President Walter Mondale's Attorney, James D***s, US.Military Judge Zackery Kinney, Dr Edward Mosely, Senator Tommy Broawater, State Delegate Arthur King, Entertainer/Producer Martin Lawrence, Motown Legend Marvin Gaye, NFL Football Player Sterling Parker, Pro Basketball Player and Motivation Speaker, Roland"Fatty" Taylor, Basketball Legend Jerome McDaniels, Mayor Lillie Thompson-Martin, Mayor of Historic Fairmount Heights Md , Barbara Flynn, ex wife of the Late Richard Pryor and many other successfull African American Alumni. Today County Officials are seeking to construct a New Fairmont Heights High School outside of the Historic Black Communities which make up The Greater Fairmount Heights Communities of North Englewood, Chapel Oaks, Beaver Heights, Cedar Heights, Jefferson Heights and The Town of Fairmount Heights. Alumni, Ex Students and Community Leaders are appealing to elected officials to build a new Fairmont, either at it's present site or within The Greater Fairmount Heights Communities. With more than 40,000 Alumni, Former Students and former teachers, we paln to mobile a major campaign to keep FHHS within it's origional Historic Black Communities. We also ask all Alumni, former students and teachers to join the alumni association and Join The Coalition to Save Historic Fairmont Heights High School.
