Two Lakers. Two Stars. One incredible impact.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate our very own Omar Vargas and Kevin Flores, who have been selected as Star Award recipients by the Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation!
The Star Awards recognize classified staff members who go above and beyond to support students, staff, and families throughout TTUSD — and these two are more than deserving.
Omar gives everything he has to North Tahoe. As our attendance secretary, he is the person who somehow always finds a way to help — and as our Boys Varsity Soccer coach, he pours that same dedication into our athletes. If North Tahoe needs something, Omar is the guy who will literally drop everything to make it happen.
Kevin is just as essential to our Laker family. As our bilingual aide, he supports students and families every day, while also lending his talents to our Culinary program and routinely becoming the chef behind some of our best staff gatherings.
And maybe what makes this recognition even more special: both Omar and Kevin are former North Tahoe students. They came through these halls as Lakers, and now they spend their days giving back to the school and community that helped shape them.
The Star Awards recognize people whose work often happens behind the scenes — but whose impact is felt everywhere. We see you, Omar and Kevin. And we couldn’t be more proud to call you Lakers.
