Faculty Spotlight: Dr. René Moquin Publishes Research on Privacy Concerns in Social Media Data Use 🌟
Dr. René Moquin has published new research exploring how social media users navigate privacy concerns when sharing personal information online.
The study, “Bound to Disclosure: An Assessment of Secondary Data Use Concerns,” examines how users perceive the collection and secondary use of their data on platforms such as Facebook. Findings reveal that while concerns about privacy increase perceived risks and reduce the benefits of sharing information, many users still believe the benefits outweigh the potential downsides.
By incorporating the concept of bounded rationality, the research provides new insight into why users continue to disclose personal information despite privacy concerns and highlights the importance of greater transparency in social media data practices.
Congratulations to Dr. Moquin on this important contribution to the fields of digital privacy and user behavior research!
