On May 8th, 2026 at 1:00 PM, NSU ROTC program will be having a commissioning ceremony for Cadet Gonzalez and Holcomb. The ceremony will be held in the Webb auditorium ( Rm 124). Come join us as we celebrate the beginning of their careers as an Army Officer!

This week during lab our MS1/2s went over ASIP/SINCGAR radios. They learned the functions, how to set it up, a 9 line MEDEVAC request, along with spot reports. Meanwhile, our MS3s were in Arkansas to gain familiarity with Raid Operations in order to prepare for cadet summer training.

This week during lab our cadets went over a Squad Leader’s jobs and roles. Meanwhile our MS3s traveled to Arkansas to gain familiarity with Ambush Operations in order to prepare for cadet summer training.

Last week during lab our cadets went over Patrol Base Operations to prepare our MS3s for cadet summer training. We discussed the roles of squad/team leaders and their responsibilities, the importance of weapons maintenance, and priorities of work.

Today, four of our cadets proudly commissioned into the U.S. Army National Guard as Second Lieutenants. This achievement reflects their dedication, discipline, and commitment to service. We congratulate each of them on reaching this significant milestone and wish them the utmost success as they begin their careers as officers.

We have full confidence that they will lead with integrity, uphold the values of the Army, and continue to represent our program with excellence. Their hard work has set a strong example for future cadets, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the years ahead.

Over the past few weeks, our cadets have demonstrated exceptional dedication and progress. Our MS3s have traveled to train alongside the Arkansas cadets, gaining valuable experience through joint lab operations. Meanwhile, our MS1 and MS2 cadets have received instruction from our MS4s and successfully executed platoon attacks, platoon ambushes, and squad raids. 🪖

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Cadets Becerra, Herrick, Holcomb, and Mensink, came home with a 2nd place win in the Kaizen: Rite of Passage 10 hour ruck challenge. In total, these 4 completed over 48 miles combined. They gave it their all and then some. Great job to our ruck team!

This week our cadets sharpened their fieldcraft by learning how to secure and establish ORPs and Patrol Bases — critical skills for mission success. Building confidence, discipline, and teamwork one step at a time. 🪖
