The Cor Deo School

In the early years especially, we believe children learn best by engaging directly with the world around them. Our classrooms are filled with great books, thoughtful discussion, handwritten work, and hands-on experiences.

Classical education is inherently relational. Students learn from their teachers—and from one another—through meaningful conversation, asking questions, and wrestling with ideas together.

Technology has its place, but we believe it should remain a tool used with purpose.

At Cor Deo, students begin to learn cursive in 2nd grade. We value the beauty and benefits that cursive brings to our students.

Students at Cor Deo begin Latin in 3rd grade and continue through until 8th grade. Learning Latin is hallmark of Classical Education. Some people might say Latin is a dead language, so why learn it? Here’s what Cor Do says.

The Great Books are the collected works from throughout history that contain “the best which has been thought and said.” Some books you will see our students read include Black Beauty, The Chronicles of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, Animal Farm, Pilgrim’s Progress, and much more.

In the early stages of the trivium, you will see our students memorizing everything from scripture to poems to songs about history or science. These are pieces they will hide in their hearts all their life. They are the tools they will lean on as they continue on their educational journey.

A classical education is built on a Greek method that is founded on truth, beauty, and goodness. These three timeless concepts are deeply intertwined in all we teach at Cor Deo.

Classical education has its roots in the teaching methods of the ancient Greeks. It was the primary educational model of the Western world until the twentieth century. Each subject area is taught through the classical th*****me, or “trivium,” that corresponds to children’s developmental levels at each stage.

A classical education is timeless. It produces graduates who reason well, discerrn truth, and engage the world with wisdom.
