Students and teachers had a wonderful time at our annual all school Overnight Field Trip! On Tuesday they headed to Millersylvania and stopped at Mount St. Helens visitor center on the way. Once they arrived at their final destination students spent the evening and next day playing games and competing in house competitions. Wednesday morning they were able to visit a local geological wonder, the Mima Mounds. When they returned to camp they enjoyed more games, canoeing, and some even chose to swing dance! That night they had a talent show, which is always a highlight of the trip. They ended the evening with worship by the campfire, and Thursday morning headed home. We are thankful to have the ability to take our students on a trip like this where they have a chance to bond with their fellow students and teachers outside of the classroom. We praise God for another successful Overnight Field Trip and for His watch over our travels!

Olive Nicoletti of Covenant High School in Tacoma has been named a 2026 Distinguished Scholar by the Classic Learning Test. This award is given for her outstanding performance on the CLT10, a college preparatory exam and PSAT® alternative.

The Distinguished Scholar award recognizes the students who earned the top CLT10 score at their school as a freshman or sophomore during the 2025-2026 academic year. This is an outstanding accomplishment and we are so proud of Olive!

Founded in 2015, the Classic Learning Test offers assessments for Grades 3-12 and alternatives to exams like the SAT®, ACT®, and PSAT®. Its college entrance exam, the CLT, is accepted at over 250 colleges and universities across the U.S. and abroad. CLT made national headlines when the state of Florida approved the CLT as an accepted admissions test at all of its public universities.

We hosted our annual New Student Orientation last night! While families enjoyed a catered dinner, they heard from Principal Wendy Tamminga about this year’s theme, All Things New, as well as from our school president Lily Whitt. After dinner our new students headed upstairs for a fun scavenger hunt hosted by our student ambassadors and had the opportunity to explore their new school, including trying out their lockers. Parents stayed and continued learning about Covenant High School and heard from the Assistant to the Principal, Erika Skrivan on what to expect in the year ahead. We ended the evening with an all school ice cream social. This was a wonderful time of fellowship as students and teachers connected, welcomed our newest members of the Covenant community, and celebrated the start of a new school year!

For Lavender Tichy, Covenant High School has been a community she has grown up around. With older siblings who attended CHS before her, and even her mom graduating from CHS, Lavender already knew the school well, but her own experience gave her plenty of reasons to make Covenant her own.

One of Lavender’s favorite parts from her time at Covenant was building friendships and spending time with classmates in and outside of the classroom. One particular highlight was the opportunity to dissect a cat in Mr. Moura’s science class!

Lavender appreciates the way CHS incorporates faith into every area of education. “It’s meaningful to learn academic subjects while also growing spiritually and seeing how faith connects to every area of life,” she said. Her time at CHS has also helped her learn from the example of other Christians and prepared her to carry those lessons into life after high school.

Throughout high school, Lavender participated in cross country, running with both of her sisters during different years. She was also a member of Honor Society and served as a CHS ambassador from her sophomore year to senior year. She particularly enjoyed being involved with the student body and looks back on those experiences as highlights of her high school years.

Lavender will attend The Master’s University in Southern California. She plans to study biological science on a pre-veterinary track. Congratulations, Lavender!

These three photos tell the story of lifelong friendships.

What began in kindergarten at Heritage Christian School, The Cor Deo School, and Springfield Classical Christian School grew into 13 years of learning and walking through life together. Their friendships are a beautiful picture of the lasting relationships that can flourish in Christian education.

We’re so grateful that Covenant High School had the privilege of being the place where those friendships continued and reached this incredible graduation milestone!

Riley Jennison joined Covenant after being homeschooled for most of middle school. He chose Covenant High School because of the positive experiences his mom, a CHS alum, and brother had before him. He especially appreciated the close knit environment, where small class sizes made it easy to build meaningful friendships and get to know both classmates and teachers.

One of Riley’s favorite memories was creating the junior project video. While he jokes that the final product “was definitely not a cinematic masterpiece,” the fun of filming it with classmates made learning exciting. He also enjoyed serving in Student Council from sophomore through senior year, participating in Honor Society, and being an Ambassador during his freshman year. Riley also ran cross country during his freshman and sophomore years.

This fall, Riley will attend Tacoma Community College, where he plans to study civil and mechanical engineering. He credits Covenant with helping him develop a strong intellectual foundation for his faith and preparing him for life after high school. He is especially grateful for Mr. Moura, whose teaching challenged him to thoughtfully engage with science as a Christian.

We are grateful to have been a part of Riley’s academic journey and are praying for him as he furthers his education. We can’t wait to see all he accomplishes in the years ahead!
