This summer, during the Global Vision & Experiential Learning Camp, students from China and Taiwan experienced the Pacific Northwest through hands-on learning at the University of Puget Sound.

Their visit to Mount Rainier National Park included fieldwork in the Puyallup/White River Watershed, where they collected and analyzed water samples to better understand how human activity impacts local ecosystems.

Experiences like these are just one example of the many opportunities students have to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences through experiential learning at Puget Sound.

For more than 35 years, the University of Puget Sound's Summer Academic Challenge has offered a tuition-free, four-week enrichment program for students in grades 7–12. Through hands-on, project-based STEAM learning, students explore real-world challenges, build confidence, discover new interests, and strengthen the skills they'll carry into the future.
A recent visit to Foss Waterway Seaport gave students an up-close look at Tacoma's maritime community and another opportunity to turn learning into experience.
