On Monday, April 27, Pierce County Councilmember Rosie Ayala (District 4) presented the community and technical colleges of Pierce County with a joint proclamation from the County Council and Pierce County Executive Ryan N Mello designating April 2026 as Community and Technical College Month!
Bates Technical College, Clover Park Technical College, Pierce College, and Tacoma Community College provide high-quality, accessible, and affordable education, serving as a cornerstone of workforce development and economic opportunity in the South Sound region. Together, they serve about 39,000 students each year and offer open admissions, so no academic background, income level, or stage of life should be a barrier to education. The Council and Executive recognize the vital role these institutions have in driving the economic vitality, equity, and promise of our county.
