Congrats to Jonathan on accepting a full-time role as Marketing and Communications Specialist at Seattle Girls' School 🙌🏾

Jonathan was part of our Seed Internships 2024 cohort and graduated from UW Tacoma with a B.A. in Communications with a Public Relations focus. Finding the right job fit after graduation wasn't easy, but Jonathan kept putting one foot in front of the other even when he couldn't see the path ahead.

"It was difficult at times," Jonathan reflected, "I'm so glad I did it my way with the help of my support system and didn't back down or pivot when it got challenging emotionally."

We're so proud to have been part of Jonathan's journey and look forward to what's next. Congrats again, Jonathan!

Celebrating our 2026 Seed interns! 🥳 Another cohort for the books.

We recently gathered with this year’s interns and their supervisors to celebrate a summer of learning, collaboration, and growth. In addition to a short program, this year marked the first time students also created poster presentations to share their experiences and what they learned with attendees.

It was a special morning and the perfect way to give flowers to this incredible cohort.

Meet Elizabeth, a new Act Six alum and member of our Seed Internships 2026 cohort! After graduating from Pacific Lutheran University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Elizabeth is gaining hands-on professional experience this summer as a Volunteer Services Intern at MultiCare Health System.

Alongside her internship, Elizabeth joins weekly professional development sessions with her Seed Internships cohort. We love seeing students continue to grow across our programs as they build their college-to-career pathways.

The numbers are in and we're so proud. Degrees of Change has provided exactly 300 internships since we launched our Seed Internships program in 2019 🎉

We're especially proud of the community of support we've built, where students learn together in cohorts and get the professional development they need to launch their careers.

Big thanks to our incredible Puget Sound employer partners, and even bigger thanks to all the talented students who've participated in this important program and made it possible over the years.

After a thorough review of Strickland Fellowship applications, we recently invited top students to interview for Tiers 1 and 2.

Selections were based on the strength of their essays, commitment to public service, and connection to Tacoma and Pierce County. We’re excited about this group and the promise they bring.

Interviews were held Wednesday, April 1 at UW Tacoma’s Milgard Hall, with panels featuring representatives from the City of Tacoma, UW Tacoma, and Degrees of Change.
