💖Meet our yoga instructor and local dancer, Alena! 💖🧘‍♀️

1- How’d you start dancing? 💃

I started dancing at 18 as a gogo dancer. I was a hardcore raver kid at the time. Being on the stage and hyping up the crowd was exhilarating. I began my belly dance journey around 2012. I saw a Shakira music video (I’m sure like many dancers) and I said to myself “I wish I could dance like that.” I immediately changed that mindset to “I can learn to dance like that.”

I started doing yoga as a personal practice around 2014. Yoga could be done anywhere, anytime with no equipment. I became a certified yoga teacher in 2016.

2- What motivates you? 📈

Generally feeling good in my body is a great motivator. Setting myself for old age. The real big one if being in tune with myself and listening to my body.

3- What’s your favorite part of teaching? 👩‍🏫

Sometimes I get massive imposter syndrome and I often don’t feel good enough in my dance or yoga practice. In life too. But the fact that a few people once a week show up to my class, even tell me they look forward to it, is very touching. I feel so much gratitude that people can trust me in the practice. And laugh at my stupid jokes.

4- What’s your favorite food? 😋

I love pizza. I could seriously eat it every day.

5- What’s one goal you have with dance? 🪩

I have been branching out away from belly dance and trying new things which can be scary. I have been really enjoying heels dancing and pole dancing. But, a soft goal I have with dancing is to put myself out there more. I don’t often seek gigs and I am terrible at networking. So if I can get brave and land a local bar or restaurant gig I will be very proud of myself.

💖Meet our Heels, Zumba, Belly Dance instructor and co-owner Stacy! 💖🐊

1- How’d you start dancing? 💃

I started dancing in the second grade, and from the very first class, I was hooked. What began as one jazz class a week quickly turned into filling my schedule with a dance class every day. Ballet, lyrical, hip hop, jazz, and technique-I wanted to learn it all. Looking back, I realize it wasn’t just the dancing that captured my heart, it was the feeling of belonging, the friendships, and the joy that came with it.

2- What motivates you? 📈

Dance has given me so much more than steps-it has given me purpose, lifelong friendships, and a community that feels like family. My hope is to create that same experience for every person who walks through our doors.

3- What’s your favorite part of teaching? 👩‍🏫

There is nothing more rewarding than watching my students grow. Seeing them become more confident, believe in themselves, and carry that confidence into every part of their lives is my why. Those moments remind me that dance isn’t just about learning choreography-it’s about discovering who you are and having the courage to shine.

4- What’s your favorite food? 😋

and if you’re wondering... yes, potatoes are still my favorite food. Just don’t hand me a sweet potato-lol

5- What’s one goal you have with dance? 🪩

My heart has always been to build a community where people feel welcomed, encouraged, and filled with joy. If I can help someone leave class smiling a little bigger, standing a little taller, and feeling a little more like themselves, then I’ve done what I set out to do. Walk in Strut out.

I can’t wait to dance, laugh, and grow together with this amazing community.
