We are learning about ponds in the Hive. It’s always a lot of fun to do a group project like this. Making our own pond from a painted canvas. The Bees were given unbridled access to glue and the great outdoors. Everyone took turns squeezing as much glue as they wanted onto the pond surround. We then added plants, rocks, sticks and even chalk. This is a Bee led project with Teacher Ms Heidi adding the magnetic turtles at the end. Because we made this on a painted canvas, the strong magnets connect above and below, and allow the Bees to conduct their turtles around the pond. ♥️🐢

The Busy Bees have launched into a new learning theme, Pond Life. We started by discussing the different animals you’ll find on, in or near a pond. We made turtles, tadpoles and ducks to name a few. This week we are adding plants to our pond learning! ♥️🐝🦆

The Busy Bees had so much fun celebrating each other for Friendship Day. We made custom envelopes for each other and used pre-made valentines with friendship related compliments and sentiments. “I like dancing with you.” Or “You make me laugh!” Teacher Ms Heidi is at the ready to help non-readers identify the envelope of the Bee they have in mind and clarify which envelope belongs to which Bee. We ate heart-shaped ravioli for lunch too. The best part was spending all day outside in the sun. Happy Friendship Day Hive friends and family! ♥️🐝

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect preschool day playing Community Helpers. The Hive was abuzz with pets being seen by their vet, prescriptions being filled in the pharmacy, letters handled by carriers and numerous new insect species discovered by our insect research scientists! 🧑🔬 👩🔬

I can’t wait for the Bees to get here this morning! I spent all afternoon and evening yesterday cleaning and putting out a few new dramatic play stations. I converted our play kitchen to a Veterinary clinic complete with tools and real bandages. I can’t wait to see how they engage with the animals and each other as Community Helpers. Oh! And our Post Office is all set up too. With mail sorting and three different mailboxes to deliver to around the Hive! ♥️🐝 We also have a pharmacy, construction team and University complete with insect research department for our resident bug expert! 🤩

The Busy Bees had the most amazing day discussing bins, dumps and crunches with our new friends from the city’s Solid Waste Department. We were spoiled by a special Hive mom who works for the City of Tacoma! Not only did we get a special presentation and custom hi-vis vests, but she also recruited an amazing team to visit us here in the Hive. We brought our chairs down to the sidewalk and enjoyed viewing two different trucks. At the end, each Bee had the choice to sit in the drivers seat, with teacher support if requested! ♥️🐝 What an AWESOME experience for our Hive! Thank you .en.jay

We talk a lot about keeping our bodies safe and healthy here in the Hive. This includes visits to the doctor when we are sick or injured, as well as when we feel good! We talked all about the medical professionals that help us stay healthy. Then we talked about some of the feelings associated with getting shots. We practice articulating and normalizing these feelings. While we said the hard things, we painted with water, paint and plastic syringes. The Bees got to suck up water and add it to paint combinations of their choosing. What beautiful creations, Bees! 🐝 ♥️

The Busy Bees are back in the Hive for 2026 and Community Helpers! We will be learning about a number of occupations over the next few weeks in the branch of Health & Safety, Neighborhood Helpers, Downtown and Creative Careers. We are excited to host several guest speakers and learn even more. Here the Bees are discussing fire safety and the very important work of firefighters. 🧯 We used blobs of red, orange and yellow paint layered upon each other and the backside of a fork to drag “fork flames” down our papers.

Fine motor work with beads! One of our Hive Dads 3D printed the most adorable beads to share with our Hive. We had so much fun stringing together festive decorations along with the letters of our names! Mr. Jacob even included enough for my Biggest Bees! 😂 Thank you again for adding to our holiday cheer!🎄♥️🐝

For the love of trees! 🌲 These real wood blocks with bark are an endless supply of building inspiration and opportunity for imagination! Beyond stacking, the Bees, especially my little engineers love making bridges, testing strength and knocking them down!
