Please join us at The Evergreen State College Tacoma to get answers and ask questions to Commissioner Scott from the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs. 

Commission Scott will be joined by Frank Thomas, senior analyst of the Minority and Justice Commission. Frank will be present to answer questions about what the judiciary is doing and the ways for the community to engage.

Shennita Smith, Commissioner of the Tacoma Housing Authority, will be present to answer questions about the Commission and what they do.

Day 28 - Alexander Augusta- Surgeon

Alexander Thomas Augusta was a surgeon, veteran of the American Civil War, and the first African-American professor of medicine in the United States. After gaining his medical education in Toronto, Canada West from 1850 to 1856, he set up a practice there.
