PARKLAND LUTHERAN SCHOOL:

- CHRISTIAN -
We teach our students that Jesus is their Savior. He did this because of His great love for all and because of His desire that everyone be in heaven with Him. We know this wonderful message from the Bible, which is God’s Word. Our goal as a Christian school is to help our students understand the Christian faith and to train them to be productive and responsible citizens.

- CLASSICAL -
With the 2008-2009 school year, Parkland Lutheran began using a classical model
for education. This method focuses on three developmental stages of children:
- Grammar: Students learn the building blocks of subjects;
- Logic: Students learn how that information fits together;
- Rhetoric: students learn how to put their knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to use.

- CREDIBLE -
Parkland Lutheran School opened in 1894, just five years after Washington became a state. It was organized by the Rev. Bjug Harstad, who also founded Pacific Lutheran University. Parkland Lutheran School is accredited by the State of Washington. We are also a member of The Evergreen Lutheran School System (TELSS), an association of schools partnered with Evergreen Lutheran High School (www.elhs.org).

- COMMITTED -
The faculty and staff of Parkland Lutheran School are committed to providing a quality, Christ-centered education. We offer a personalized education that fosters the strengths and talents of each individual. We do this by using tried and true methodologies of the past to teach skills that will be useful in the future. We offer enhanced learning through online courses, as well as offering a state of the art computer lab. Other opportunities available to our students include: soccer, basketball, handbells, band and piano lessons, forensics, and theater.

We were grateful to begin the morning with coffee hour for families, graciously provided by the Wolfe Club Coffee Roasters, followed by chapel and the dedication of the Paul Silas Trapp Memorial Bench.

We thank God for bringing our students, families, teachers, and staff together for a year of learning and growing in faith. May He bless this school year with wisdom, patience, joy, and many opportunities to use our God-given gifts in service to Him and to one another.

This week, we are praying for all those who are starting school or have already begun a new school year.

Here is a prayer from Pastor Gullixson:
“Dear Father in heaven, as we begin a new school year at Lutheran School, Evergreen Lutheran High School, Bethany Lutheran College, and Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary, we pray that You would bless the families, students, teachers, and staff; that You would grant knowledge and wisdom as we train, study, teach, and labor in our callings; and that we may grow in grace day by day as we learn more of You and Your love for us in Christ Jesus, in whose name we pray.
