How was your April Quarantine? I took on ’s 30 Days to Better Doubles challenge and it was a hell of a ride. Here’s a clip from the vlog I made about it. If you’re a drummer who wants to know if this program is targeted for you, I highly suggest you check it out. If you’re just missin’ on me, then watch the vlog, it’s like you’re with me the whole way! **le

Arguably the most important purchase I’ve made not just as a drummer, but as a musician; Having a custom pair of IEM’s gives you a connection to the music unlike anything you have ever experienced before.

For those of you who don’t know, I have a synthetic eardrum in my right ear from an infection I had as a wee toddler. Compound that with years of rock drumming and you KNOW I had to crank volume in my headphones. Custom in ear monitors are literally molded to YOUR ears. No one else can wear them but you. They help a metronome, another member, backtracks, your own playback or anything you want absolutely cut through the noise and you don’t have to blow out your ear drums in the process. Plus they just look sick AF. I got mine molded at when I took a trip down to Orlando, FL but you don’t have to go all the way to Florida to have them molded. They can help you get the right fit all across the country. My particular pair are their 5 driver models to cover the full sound spectrum and let you hear things in the music you never could before. Plus, they’ve got my logo on them. Like... How cool is that?! Thinking about doing a review video for them on my YouTube. Let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in!

This past year has been a wild ride. Moved clear across the country, started a YouTube channel, made major progress on my physique, got a mullet, finished an album, shot 3 music videos, learned how to use a camera on manual mode, how to edit video, how to fade my hair, and have met some dope Washingtonians along the way. Thank you to my Florida fam who have continued to love and support me from thousands of miles away or even spent money to fly out and visit me. Thank you to anyone who came across a video and followed me on IG or took the time to subscribe to my YouTube channel. Thank you to my friend for mentoring me in my fitness journey, pushing me to create content and being a source of information for so many of the things I learned this year. Thank you to my IG drum group for being so supportive. and all of you guys are dope as hell. Thank you to everyone who asked me what’s up with my band and having a genuine interest in what we’ve been working on. 2020 is still fresh but if it’s anything like my 2019 has been, I’m beyond ecstatic.

Have you ever wondered what gives music that intensity that feels like it’s speeding up? Or how pop or rock song can feel like a waltz without actually being one? Check out this clip from my upcoming lesson, The Rhythmic Scale. Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube and tap that notification bell so you can be the FIRST to know when it drops.

Welcome to STICKING OF THE MONTH | Indulge your creative side with this One Month Challenge to see what you can create with this sticking and these 5 guidelines.

Rule #1: You have to make at least 1 fill AND 1 groove out of this sticking.

Rule #2: You have to practice this sticking at least 21 days of the month.

Rule #3: When practicing SOTM, you have to put in a minimum 10 minutes per session. Practice tips included in video.

Rule #4: You can perform any substitutions and embellishments AS LONG AS they follow the skeleton of the actual sticking. Kicks can be substituted for single strokes or double strokes respectively. Flams can be applied on the lead hand of the stroke. Singles can be di**led. See video for additional explanation.

Rule #5: This sticking can be put into ANY subdivision as long as the sticking is never reduced. A creative tag on can be added to help fit into the sticking e.g. RRLR KK LLRL KK to fit into triplets. RRLR K LLRL K in Quintuplets, etc.

Check back at the end of the month for my journey through SOTM and to see what groove and fill I come up with.
