🎉 SURPRISE! 🎉
After months of countless meetings, site visits, reports, revisions, and more determination than we can count... we finally had the chance to celebrate the person who made it all happen.
Our MSW students, faculty, and staff secretly teamed up to surprise Dr. Anissa Rogers and celebrate the incredible achievement of earning CSWE accreditation for PLU’s MSW program!
No celebration of Anissa would have been complete without:
❤️Temporary tattoos of Anissa (yes... everyone was wearing one before she arrived 😂)
👑 A hand crocheted crown (courtesy of Maria)
🧁Cupcakes
🥂 A sparkling cider toast
💛 Lots of laughter, appreciation, and well-deserved recognition
This milestone represents months of hard work, perseverance, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to building a high-quality MSW program for our students and community.
Thank you, Anissa, for your vision, leadership, and relentless dedication. We are so proud of what we’ve accomplished together!
Cheers to everyone who helped make this dream a reality, and cheers to the future of PLU MSW! 🎉🎓💛

🎉 BIG NEWS! 🎉
After many months of planning, preparation, documentation, site visits, collaboration, and countless hours of hard work, we are thrilled to announce that Pacific Lutheran University's Master of Social Work Program is now officially FULLY ACCREDITED by CSWE! 🎓✨
This incredible milestone represents the dedication and commitment of so many people, but we want to give a special shout-out to our MSW Program Chair, Dr. Anissa Rogers, whose unwavering determination, leadership, and persistence carried this process across the finish line. We are beyond grateful for everything she poured into making this achievement possible.
As Anissa shared with our community:
"I'm writing to let you know that our MSW program is now accredited!! It's been a long haul, but I appreciate deeply all the trust, support, time, energy, and patience you all have offered through this process. All three site visitors commented on your commitment to and engagement in the program; you make this program what it is, and I'm grateful you're here.
Thanks again, everyone, and congratulations!"
This accomplishment belongs to our faculty, staff, students, alumni, field instructors, community partners, and everyone who believed in this program from the very beginning.
Here's to this exciting new chapter—and to the future social workers who will continue to make a difference in our communities. 💛🖤

A new article in the Journal of Social Work Education asserts that NASW and CSWE are the spine of social work; however, regarding the area of self-care, there’s a critical misalignment between the two organizations.
As social work education continues to evolve, there is an opportunity to further align educational standards with the profession’s commitment to self-care.
The authors of this article propose including professional self-care as a 10th competency in CSWE’s Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards, moving it from an optional imperative to an ethical one.
Specific verbiage for this proposed 10th competency is described, and curricular activities are provided.
