We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jiayu Sun as a tenure-track assistant professor of organizational communication! Dr. Sun joins us from the University of Texas at Austin, where she recently completed her Ph.D. Her dissertation focused on communication and community during disaster-related decision making. Asked what she’s excited about as she joins us at Puget Sound, Dr. Sun shared:

“I’m excited to be teaching two courses this Fall 2025 semester: COMM 230 Communication Theory and COMM 360 Contemporary Issues in Organizational Communication. I love treating each classroom as a community, and I’m excited to see the amazing work we’ll create together. I’m also continuing my research in crisis and disaster communication. I am looking forward to a meaningful and inspiring year ahead!”

Welcome to Puget Sound, Dr. Sun!
