Honoring the Scandinavian heritage of Pacific Lutheran University, we bring together Mission. The SCC works to enrich understanding of Nordic and Nordic American cultures in support of PLU’s educational mission and in recognition of PLU’s Nordic heritage. In support of PLU’s educational mission and recognition of its Nordic heritage, the mission of the Scandinavian Cultural Center at Pacific Lutheran University is to engage Nordic and Nordic American heritage and highlight customs, traditions, and contemporary societies with understanding towards other cultures.

Weather is supposed to be too wet to hold the event outdoors.
Remember to wear your traditional Norwegian bunads, sweaters, or Norwegian shirts if you have them.

The Scandinavian Cultural Center at Pacific Lutheran University invites you to join us for these upcoming Syttende Mai festivities.
Join us on Saturday, May 16th at 9:30am for a flag raising at PLU’s Red Square, followed by a light brunch in the Scandinavian Cultural Center. Note that the flag raising may take place in the SCC if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Additionally, come march with us on Sunday, May 17th in the Ballard Parade! Bring along family and friends! Wear traditional bunads, sweaters, or anything Norwegian and join in the fun! All participants will need to submit a Hold-Harmless Agreement Form. To view, please click the button below.
