We enjoyed a week of snowy fun! We made a snowstorm in a jar and watched an exploding snowman! We used our cameras to find pictures of snow-time fun. We programmed Tale-Bot to “skate” on the ice and leave a fancy design. We built an igloo with magna-tiles. We dabbed frosty colors around a snowman stencil. We discovered numbers can be shown in a variety of ways. We even had a snowball “throw” in the classroom with soft, stuffed snowballs. Now, if we could only see real frosty white flakes outside!❄️⛄️

Our first week of the new year was filled with snow and ice! We learned more about winter, created snowflakes of our own, tested whether salt or sugar would free Elsa and Anna from their blocks of ice, and learned about six-sided hexagons! Thank you, God, for your gorgeous flakes of ice!

Even while practicing for our Christmas program, we were able to have some gingerbread fun! We engineered homes for a gingerbread cookie using toothpicks and gumdrops. We put our technology skills into action as we counted gingerbread house candies. We predicted and checked what happens to a gingerbread cookie when it gets wet. We counted and weighed gingerbread decorating candies. We even programmed Tale-Bot to move from one Christmas hiding spot to another. Hooray for gingerbread at Christmas!!

What a fun turkey-filled week we enjoyed together! Gobble gobble!

We are loving our new “Play Exploration” space! Every Thursday (and on rainy days) we head upstairs to crawl, race cars, bounce, pretend, build, and create! We regularly change out the play items to make our exploration time even more exciting each and every time we walk into the room! Let’s play!

Our morning was filled with candy! We poured hot water on Skittles and watched colorful ribbons of color grow. We placed m&m’s in water and were surprised when the m’s floated to the top of the water. We then predicted whether or not certain treats would float or sink in water. Why did the candies sink when we took them out of their wrappers? Then, we trick-or-treated down the hallway! What a sweet, sweet day!🍭🍫🍬

Our week was FILLED with bats! We learned how bats are different than birds. We discovered a new word—echolocation! We programmed our bat mobile to move from its cave to a certain color of bat and then fly back home. We built bat caves with a variety of materials. We painted bats in the night sky. We even used batty counters to solve number stories! Bats are amazing!

We had so much fun with STREAM activities all about apples! We conducted an apple experiment (Science). We used our cameras to take pictures of apple items hidden around our room (Technology). We programmed Andy to move on an apple mat (Robotics). We built apple structures (Engineering). We stamped apples in a basket (Art). We even used apple stickers to count out 10 apples on our heads!
