Ally Berry '19 is making a splash! As an Environmental Project Manager at LG Sonic, she oversees more than 40 lake and reservoir projects nationwide doing things like designing and implementing ultrasonic mitigation technologies and training municipalities and water utilities 💧
She graduated from ESF with a degree in environmental science and a focus in watershed science, inspired by an awareness of how vulnerable drinking water sources are to things like climate change and harmful algal blooms.
When she reconnected with the SUNY ESF Alumni Association, she credited ESF for providing the scientific foundation and confidence to tackle complex environmental challenges. We're cheering you on, Ally!

Award-winning science is on these posters 🔬🥼
Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting the NYS Science Congress which featured 150 winners of regional science fairs across New York. They were able to present their original research and compete for further honors 🏆
This marks the first year ESF hosted the Science Congress, which is administered by the Science Teachers Association of New York State. We are proud to connect our researchers and staff with the scientists of tomorrow!

We're bringing the buzz to the SUNY - The State University of New York Campus Showcase 🐝
Molly Jacobson, native pollinator ecologist and the co-chair of our Bee Campus committee, is showing off the incredible work being done by Mighty Oaks at ESF. Since 2022, we've added over 25,000 sq ft of native, pesticide-free pollinator habitat on the Syracuse campus!
Unique to SUNY ESF is our comprehensive inventory of wild bees on campus to determine what species are benefiting from our efforts and how they interact with the plantings. As of May 2026, 105 species of bees use the floral resources we've added!
We loved sharing this knowledge with Chancellor King, President Mahoney, SUNY ESF Board of Trustees Chairman John Bartow, and others in Albany!

Sunday was a great day for celebrating our community and the environment! To help mark 10 years of the Amp, the public gathered to explore behind the scenes at the newly renamed Joanne M. Mahoney Pavilion at Empower FCU Amphitheater.
ESF has a proud history of researching and contributing to the clean up and ongoing stewardship of Onondaga Lake so that New Yorkers can responsibly enjoy the recreation and beauty right here in our backyard.
We've been graduating our amazing Mighty Oaks here since 2022, and we look forward to future ceremonies 🎓
