A surprise engagement at OCC graduation makes People.com!

Man Surprises Girlfriend with Proposal as She Walks Across the Stage During Her College Graduation Ceremony When Bellanina Viggiano graduated from Onondaga Community College earlier this week, she received more than just a diploma — her boyfriend of four years, Shaun Barfield, proposed at the end of the stage.

This month marks 65 years since Onondaga Community College opened its doors to the community 💙 To celebrate, tonight the National Grid Niagara Mohawk Building will be lit up blue and white .

In May of 1961 the Onondaga County Board of Supervisors (now the Legislature) agreed to sponsor a community college, and also in May of 1961 the SUNY Board of Trustees approved the creation of a community college for Onondaga County.

The National Grid Foundation today presented Onondaga Community College with $100,000 to support the National Grid Scholar Program. The generous donation will be used to strengthen the regional talent pipeline in healthcare and advanced manufacturing – two sectors critical to New York’s economic future.

Thank you OCC supporters! Dr. Hilton accepted a $77,000+ check today from the OCC Foundation on behalf of all of the donors from Day of Giving on May 1.
