Hi everyone, Dr. Brown here. Last week I attended a screening of the documentary "Caregiving" at the WCNY studies and spoke on a panel as one of the local experts on the topic.
Whatever experience I have as a caregiver whose parents both ended up in a nursing home when they had dementia is nothing compared to what I have seen so many other families go through who keep their loved ones at home. Including many of the people who took part in our caregiving support program here in Syracuse.
This documentary tells stories of families providing care at home to disabled children, aging parents, and even one teenaged boy who helps take care of his mother who lives with Multiple Sclerosis. I think you will find reflections of your experiences in many of these stories. I know I did.
