My workshops invite any age group, from toddlers to adults, to participate in interactive presentations of period activities centered around daily life in the 18th (17th or 19th) Century. Typically, I set up my collection of period toys (reproductions) and engage your guests/the public, in a discussion of the history and play... and invite them to try them out. All ages are welcome and often are engaged in multigenerational interaction. Open-fire Cooking Demonstration for Children- Small groups help prepare corn cakes, venison stew and other period foodstuffs, using period utensils and learning about open-fire cooking techniques. English Country Dancing for Children- Great fun ensues when children (and their folks!) engage in simple period dance steps and turn them into fun and easy dances! Laundry and Dress-up- Children (and their folks) learn how 18th century people dressed and try it out for themselves! In costume, they can then wash linens in huge kettles, wring them out and hang them on the line! Be sure to contact me for details on how my workshops can adapt to your event!
