"Upstate Medical University and SUNY Purchase have established a new partnership that will provide high-achieving students with a guaranteed pathway from undergraduate education to earning a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Upstate.

Beginning with students entering SUNY Purchase in fall 2027, the Purchase–Upstate Guaranteed Entrance Program (GEP) will offer a select group of students the opportunity to secure admission to Upstate's College of Medicine while completing their bachelor's degree at Purchase."

"Maritess "Tess" Bernardo, DNP, MSN-Ed, BSN, RN, CNE, PCCN, has been named interim dean of the College of Nursing, effective July 1. Bernardo, who currently serves as program director of the College's RN-BS program and clinical assistant professor, assumes leadership of the college with more than 25 years of experience spanning clinical nursing practice, entry-level and higher education, evolving research, and progressive academic administration. She succeeds Tammy Austin-Ketch, PhD, who announced her retirement in May."

Maritess "Tess" Bernardo, DNP, named interim dean of the College of Nursing | Upstate News | SUNY Upstate Bernardo joined the College of Nursing faculty in 2025. She soon assumed the roles of program director and advisor of the RN-BS Program and secretary of the College of Nursing Assembly.
