Happy Anniversary, Sr. Natalie!
Here’s some excerpts from a recent conversation she had with Deacon Dan Stevens.
Sr. Natalie celebrated her 70th anniversary as a Sister on March 19, the Solemninty of St. Joseph.
She was born on Nichols Avenue and is a graduate of the BSS class of 1946. She found the Sisters who taught at the school to be inspirational and vividly recalls a 2nd grade classmate turning to her and saying “You’re going to be a Sister.” That sounded absolutely right to Sr. Natalie.
So far she has served at three Churches named for St. Patrick – in Binghamton, Oneida, and Tipperary Hill. Her diverse career includes teaching, pastoral outreach, lectoring, visiting the sick, running a food pantry, serving as a Eucharistic minister, conducting cemetery services, and caring for Fr. Reddick’s cats.
Fun facts:
Sr. Natalie has been to Germany six times.
Sr. Natalie roots for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Sr. Natalie has a twin sister who is an extrovert; Sr. Natalie herself maintains she is an introvert.
