We're thrilled to announce that Assistant Professor Jess Myers has been awarded the prestigious Rome Prize in Architecture by the American Academy in Rome—one of the highest honors in the field.

Selected through a highly competitive national process, Myers is among just 31 artists and scholars recognized this year across disciplines in the arts and humanities. As part of the 2026–27 fellowship, she’ll spend time in Rome advancing her project, “OverPast: Disruptive Listening in Urban Pasts and Presents,” which explores urban change and infrastructure through a comparative lens between Syracuse and Rome.

Now, that work is headed to the global stage. Denniston Hill has been invited to participate in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, opening May 2026. As the only “School” from North America included, the project highlights new ways of thinking about art, learning, and community.

We’re pleased to share that Gustavo Nascimento, assistant director of enrollment management and engagement in the School of Architecture, has been selected as the new Administrative Fellow through the Office of People and Culture at Syracuse University.

During his fellowship, Nascimento is developing a project titled “Leading Across Generations” that will explore how intergenerational differences influence communication, leadership and collaboration.
