Martin J. Whitman School of Management

Whitman School of Management gathered in New York City on May 21 to recognize the alumni, corporate partners and friends who invest in Whitman student success.

At the annual Awards and Appreciation Event, four outstanding alumni and partners were recognized for their mentorship, giving and commitment to Whitman students.

Congratulations to this year's honorees:

David Panasci '80 - Jonathan J. Holtz Alumnus of the Year
Barbara Ashkin ’74 (A&S), ’77 M.S. - Dean's Citation for Exceptional Service
Jennifer Kreischer '88 - Dean's Citation for Exceptional Service
Margo Konugres '12 - Orange Ovation Award

Their support helped drive a strong 2025-26 academic year, with 555 student internships completed and 98.1% full-time placement for the Class of 2025.

The Class of 2026 made their impact!

369 graduating Whitman students raised a record $15,207 for Syracuse University and $5,090 for the Whitman Dean's Fund through this year's Class Giving Campaign. Congratulations to the Class of 2026 and thank you for your support! 🍊

The Spring 2026 Capstone Competition packed the Whitman as seniors presented original business ventures they've been building all semester, pitching to panels of alumni entrepreneurs and business pros.

🥇 First place: Hone Energy Systems
Turning agricultural waste into biodiesel with on-farm machinery and a fuel brokerage network.

🥈 Second place: Thryve
A NASA-licensed handheld breath analyzer delivering 30+ health metrics through a mobile app .

🥉 Third place: DrainGuard Tech
A smart, enzyme-powered drain cap that prevents clogs before they start.

The future of business is Orange. 🍊

Whitman Day 2026 was one for the books.

From an inspiring morning with Chancellor Haynie to the first-ever Whitman Open mini golf tournament in Flaum Grand Hall, the Whitman community came together to celebrate an incredible year of progress, innovation and Orange pride.
